Honda CRF250X

Honda CRF250X

I haven’t done much in the way of off-roading on a motorbike, but did a day last year with Graham Charlton from Graham Charlton Motorcycles in Stockton on one of his fantastic Beta XTrail 250’s and absolutely loved it.

I am certainly no expert on off-road bikes, but from what I am led to believe the CRF250X is a very safe bet for a bike that is capable both on the road and off it and is light enough to be a decent first off-road bike for somebody like myself to gain some skills and experience on, but with enough guts to not get boring once the skills develop.

I have joined the Trail Riders Fellowship and I am led to believe that there are loads of rideable trails not too far from where I live in County Durham on the borders of North Yorkshire. Before the Covid 19 outbreak that has put pay to a lot of people’s plans so far this year, I was planning on buying a CRF250X, preferably already adapted to be road legal, and getting into doing some trail riding this year, with a view to maybe doing some tours involving some off-road elements over the coming years.

It is still very much in my plans, but I am keeping an eye on the lock-down situation before I make any purchases!
